We’re very sad to report that our stalwart 3SQN Association member Jeff Love died suddenly at home of a heart attack, aged 91.
Jeff was one of 3SQNs important "living links" with WW1. He put in years of historical work to conserve, digitise and publish his father Nigel Love's invaluable photographic collection. (And over the years Jeff has generously donated many copies of his book to worthy 3SQN recipients.) His dedication, photographic skills and generosity have definitely enhanced the general public’s awareness of, and admiration for, 3AFC's role in the First World War, and the aviation-pioneering of his dad Nigel.
Jeff also experienced operational flying in WW2, as a Navigator with RAAF No.1 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit (Mosquitoes). He achieved a famous feat of pinpoint navigation after an engine-failure deep in Japanese territory. (This story is today commemorated beside the preserved Mosquito aircraft at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.)

became a Wing Commander in the WW2 Air Training Corps and
very proudly
presented Jeff’s “Navigator’s Wing Brevet” during
Jeff’s graduation parade at Mt. Gambier, South Australia.
